Chives Two-Ways (DF/GF)
Dairy Free and Gluten Free
Chinese chives cooked in two ways. Quick braised with bean sprout and tofu, and chives stir fried with eggs. Served with steamed rice.
Chinese chives or jiǔ cài is recognized for its strong fragrance and flat leaves. Also known as garlic chives in the western hemisphere, these are flatter and wider than regular chives. Regular chives are often eaten raw, sprinkled over the top of something, or added to sauces and dips. Chinese chives, on the other hand, taste a bit more vegetal than herbal, so they tend to be used more as a vegetable than an herb–in other words, they are almost always cooked.
