Maverick House Review

A like-minded support group is essential for long-term success in any type of program that encourages permanent change. Staying sober is not just about abstinence from drugs and alcohol–it is about addressing the emotional underlying issues. It is also about learning healthy habits and embracing a new life, free from substances. Unlike other rehab aftercare centers and sober living homes, New Life Hosue uses a peer-grouping method that helps those in recovery connect with individuals going through the same life experiences. Peer grouping means creating sober living houses geared towards specific age groups so the young men can better relate with one another.

With this, he had a vision of helping men abstain from alcohol and drug dependence. To add, he wanted to transform their lifestyles and teach them life skills necessary to succeed. We came from very humble beginnings, and would love to tell you our story of success and recovery.

  1. It is also about learning healthy habits and embracing a new life, free from substances.
  2. Giving rides, sponsorship, attending meetings, events, parties, and conferences together create a community of support a young adult needs to achieve long-lasting sobriety.
  3. Sober living homes–also referred to as halfway houses–such as ours in Los Angeles are residential homes that provide a drug and alcohol-free environment for people in early recovery.
  4. Maverick House Review has been recognized nationally by professionals in recovery as a model for structured sober living in Los Angeles.
  5. Thanks to peer grouping, friendships made in the houses last long after graduation from our sober living homes.

Step Social Program

Maverick House Review has been recognized nationally by professionals in recovery as a model for structured sober living in Los Angeles. Moreover, we have a stellar reputation of providing young men with the tools for success and community support they need in order to live a productive and happy life no matter what challenges they encounter along the way. In the early 1990s, many families of teenagers and young men approached Maverick House Review to help address their son’s addictions. At the time, long-term, sober living resident services for teens and young men in Los Angeles were unavailable. Soon after admitting the younger people, certain things became apparent. The disparity in their emotional ages, social skills, and life experiences was significant enough to require different approaches for each group of men for sobriety.

A combination of scientifically rooted therapies and treatments make up evidence-based care, defined by their measured and proven results. Founded in San Pedro by Perry Petacia, Maverick House Review was formed to directly serve young men in recovery. An alcoholic himself, Perry had been through a recovery center that emphasized identifying and modifying self-sabotaging behavior. Agitation, muscle ticks, psychosis, and heart issues are common symptoms of cocaine abuse.

Family Program

In 1994, Perry separated the age groups and opened a second sober living house for men in the Torrance, California area to accommodate the older adults. Maverick House Review’s success in working with young men began to take off once the guys began living with their own peers. At Maverick House Review, in addition to strengthening life skills, Maverick House Review Review growing community, and developing character, our young men have the opportunity to participate in a number of curated higher education opportunities. Our educational program is designed to help young men further their education, earn their next achievements and degrees, and learn fundamental life and relationship skills. This class of drugs includes prescribed medication and the illegal drug heroin.
